Happy New Year to you all
2017 was a busy time for us we worked with some fantastic people and with 2018 booked up for restorations we are going to have another busy and exciting year ahead.
The workshop was closed over the Christmas period for a well earned break… although we did have a couple of snow days before we broke up as the lane was blocked with over a foot of snow.
The year has started off busy. We have a 23 window samba to build after having full restoration. A Bay window that’s going into paint next week as well as a Porsche, two other Bays and a Beetle in for restorations the workshop is full….
Jessie the early bay is still with us. The plan was to get her back to very patient owner before Christmas but with the snow and freezing conditions we didn’t want to risk road testing before MOT. Once a propex heater has been fitted and road tested she will be on her way ready for the season.
We are also working on an early bay called Verne…now when Verne came to us he looked a little sorry for himself.
His owners were relocating to Spain so left him with us while they moved to warmer climates.
Now once work had started on Verne it was clearer that he was more than a little sorry for himself. He was in a very bad way with major chassis issues as well as almost every panel that needed replacing or work
After updating our customers and discussing the options available it was decided that it wasn’t cost effective to continue with Verne. We had contacted one of the importers that we use we had sourced a good solid van that we would use and then use Verne as a donor van. This isn’t a decision we take lightly but we always work with the best interests of our customers.
So then Verne 2 is a solid LHD Early Bay that’s come from California. With only a couple of panels that needed attention Verne 2 is a much better option. Lhd is an option our customers were happy to go with as eventually Verne 2 will join them in Spain…
We will keep you posted with updates.
