This 1973 Bay Window Westfalia van came into border restoration from Jersey where she spent many years in a poly tunnel. Her owners were trying to prevent the sea air doing any more damage.
The van was driven to us from the port after an initial inspection it was decided that the van shouldnt be driven on the road again as the chassis legs were heavily corroded. The doors had colour coded gaffer tape holding them together.
The customers were lovely and we were looking forward to working with them to restore their van. Unfortunately the van was going to be much more work than they had expected. They chose to cut their losses and sell her.
We knew some customers that were looking at getting a van. Restoration could commence.
The restoration was much more work than expected. Once media blasted she did resemble a sieve in places!!!
Many hours work has gone into getting this van to where it is now. Team Work, good customer relationship and communication are key.
We are sad to see this van go but are excited for our customers as their journey has just began…
The van is off to Fellows Speed shop for the mechanical build.
We cant wait to see this van finished and back on the road.
