Gary has been with us a while now. Our customers live overseas and with this funny old virus going around it has delayed plans on coordinating visits and meeting with engine companies and trimmers.
Build is always a time consuming job which is very rewarding when you see it all coming together. What makes it harder for us if a van comes to us already stripped with parts thrown in boxes. Its like trying to find a needle in a haystack, it’s always the special little bolts that go missing!!
The VW Engine company supplied the engine and Iain Burns has supplied and fitted the new wiring loom.
Time now to add the finishing touches. The original badge that came of the van was a little tired and painted black. It’s difficult to get hold of badges at the moment so I contacted a company to see if we could get Gary’s original badge re-chromed. The result is great and its really nice to be able to us the original.
The hub caps were beyond cleaning up, a couple were acceptable but when you go to level of restoration that our customers have with this van then its too late in the day to just make do ….
Mot this week….I know that vans of a certain age don’t need an MOT but I believe that what ever the age of vehicle it should be tested to make sure they are safe.
