This is crazy..so we thought we would share Jessie’s restoration with you all..

Jessie came to us like many vans do… needing a little TLC!!!

She had only been off the road 18 months which was due to her breaking down on the way home from a trip abroad..

looking at the van when it was delivered to the workshop we could clearly see that this was going to be a heavy restoration.

The list of panels ordered was extensive thanks to the lads at Alan Schofields for sorting and getting delivered. When the lorry had gone and we unwrapped the pallet we lay the panels on the workshop floor. If Airfix did VW campers this is what it would look like.

Once work started we could see where previous repairs/patches/filler work had been done, I have to say some even shocked us..we removed panels that we knew needed to be replaced but we couldn’t remove too many because we needed to mount the shell on a roll frame to media blast.

Jessie was taken into the media blast unit to be sandblasted, when out the true extent of what we were looking at became very clear. How this van had still been on the road previous to it’s breakdown is astonishing. The chassis from front to back was completely shot.

This is where it gets a little crazy… the decision was made to remove the body from the chassis. Body cuts were sourced again from Rick at Alan Schofields. When we started to make the cuts required the sills on the nearside didn’t even need cutting off one hit with the hammer and they broke away.

Will keep you updated on how Jessie gets on in the next blog.
