When Dolly first came into the workshop it was clear that she needed a little TLC. On first inspection, she didn’t look too bad. Famous last words!!!
First job was to strip down to a bare shell, before being taken into our media blast facility. Only when this process is complete can we truly see the extent of the work required!
A flat pack camper arrived from Rick @Schofields within a few days, the process of fabrication can begin. It amazes us to this day some of the previous repairs that are done and are filled in with newspaper or hidden with filler. Dolly had the most unusual repair patch in the centre of the rear side panel which was filled with fibre glass filler but with no hardener so it hadn’t gone off!!
After all fabrication had been complete prep for paint could start.
Richard and Kath chose paint colour………..VWL31H Chianti Red VWL90D Pastel White and VWL82 silver White for wheels.
A shopping list for build parts and mechanical parts was placed.
A new space roof was fitted before Dolly was sent down to Chris at Retro Retrims.
It has been a pleasure working with Richard and Kath. We hope they have great fun making new memories in Dolly.
