Dear Marc and Michelle,

What a journey The Green Lady has been on.... The moment of joy was when the project started almost by complete surprise, as the world was climbing out of the dreaded COVID and lockdowns.

The WhatsApp group was created and within days the patiently waiting Green Lady was on the ramps and ready for action. The poor thing looked like a skeleton in a matter of days as Marc carried out what can only be described as forensic autopsy/archaeological dig, the depth of detail was inspiring. The penny dropped at the sheer graft required for a complete restoration, we then knew the van was in the best hands around.

Communication was first class, every element was covered from upcoming payments and next steps of the restoration. Nothing was problem and my endless questions (sorry 😊) were always promptly answered and the relationship grew into a really fun, relaxed and entertaining journey!

The frequent updates were a delight to receive and became a family and friends' event, eagerly waiting to see the progress. Thanks to Marc and Michelle, we now have a complete historic chronology of photographs and written details of every single stage of the process, absolutely worth its weight in gold for the new life of the van.

Now let's talk about the paint job. Colour choice was a huge task, and this is where Marc and Michelle's experience was a life saver.

Taiga green was debated for weeks and weeks and with the help of mock ups and samples we pressed the green button. Connor in the team produced a paint job which is simply world class. The depth of colour is just a dream to look at. As I had no clue on the process it was a real schooling for me to appreciate how much leg work is required to produce such a finish. The flattening and prep work I have such respect for, so massive hands up for endless hours of hard work.

I recall the material list for boxes and boxes of sanding material, when you see the finish in real life you can understand the lengths required and we are super grateful and lucky of their attention to detail and elbow grease! It is flawless.

Once the body was complete, actually brand new, some serious thinking and great advice from the guys, we decided on a Subaru conversion, disc brakes and full mechanical rebuild by Fellows Speedshop. This was all down to the trusted network and national reputation of Marc and Michelle. Again, we felt very lucky to be in their capable hands.

Now we have a delightful completely brought back to life campervan, it is a joy to drive and we are onto the next steps of the interior fit out and we cannot wait to visit Marc and Michelle when complete.

Thank you so much for all your help, expertise and patience!

Simon and Natalia,

Border Restoration was a find!

welsh17We are from Swansea and our camper was in need to some TLC (to say the least). We did some research as to where we could get a full restoration and we saw some great reviews here. DEFINITELY made the right decision.

Marc and Michelle are fantastic. Due to it being a 3-4 hour drive one way it made it difficult to visit frequently but they overcame that with frequent photos / texts / phone calls and emails to update us. They were also very patient explaining each step of the way and giving honest and experienced feedback. We had a tight budget and they really took this into consideration with every part of the restoration.Follow up / post care has also been phenomenal. They don’t just hand it over and forget about you. They continue to give advice and contact you to see how everything is.

We picked the van up in April and this summer it has journeyed to Marseille on the south coast of France and back demonstration the fine workmanship.

Thank you for everything.

Becci Wilshire,

Border Restorations are honest, friendly, full of knowledge and advise, and treat your bus as if it was their own. Their work is spot on. Their communication and care keeps you informed at every stage of the renovation, and being able to visit was so exciting! Mark is a perfectionist...you can't ask for more when your restoring a classic! Any questions you have get answered confidently, any part you need, they know where to find it (just look at Bodhi's pictures) Thank You for keeping Bodhi (and my dream of owning a VW camper) alive. Can't wait for our adventures to begin x ps. The cakes rock!

Jayne Taylor – Bodhi Restoration,

noddyWe first met Marc & Michelle from Border Restoration in 2010 when trading at a camper show and found them both knowledgeable and friendly from the offset. After speaking with many other restoration companies, we instinctively felt most comfortable with Border. Marc & Michelle were so passionate about what they do and after viewing some of the quality work undertaken we were even happy to sit on the waiting list.

Noddy has now been fully restored and we are extremely pleased with the results. We were kept up to date with all progress and consulted throughout with estimated costs and what work is being carried out even after the initial shock of discovering how bad Noddy was underneath. You only have to look at photo’s to see the extent of work carried out.

We made periodic visits during the restoration and were always met with a smile, mug of tea and some biscuits. I could not recommend them more, the whole team are genuine people who really know there business inside and out. Border Restoration really prove that you deal with people not businesses.

We will still keep in touch and look forward to seeing them at future shows and events.

Stuart & Sian Goodswen,

berylWell what can I say what hasnt been said in the other comments, but here goes... Beryl is a 72 Bay crossover Dormobile, owned by us since 2000. She had got to the stage in 2012 to either restore or get rid. Needless to say after my first initial phone call to Marc she was saved

After being stripped and shotblasted she looked in a dreadful state more holes in her than a large kitchen sieve and shored up in places by MDF from other previous ownerships! After new panels fitted, chassis saved, Red 9 Design front axle, a glorious paint job, an additional sliding door (Twin slider now), and numerous visits she is now THE DOGS XXXXXXXX.

Marc and Michelle are simply fantastic, from the business end (planning, finance and execution) to the gaining of real friends. We trusted the gang with Beryl and our money and I tell you what we would do the same again because the whole experience was worry free and effortless.

Now when I am driving Beryl I turn into the proverbial Cheshire cat, I am chuffed to bits. She looks and feels brand new. No doubts at all if you want your pride and joy fully restored to showroom condition look no further.

Marc and Michelle are the way forward.

Roger and Julie,

For someone who has zero experience of old Campers it was simply by chance that I chose Border Restoration to undertake the complete restoration of my 1972 T2. There was something about the company that seemed to place skill and integrity above appearance. The choice was even more surprising considering I live in Aberdeenshire and they are based in Shropshire. I wasn’t disappointed. The restoration was as expected slow, but the updates frequent. Problems were shared and invariably solved. My restoration was probably “high-end”, but the team at Border Restoration is small and I know Marc to be personally involved with every project. Their relationship with their vendors is good, which is important. Michelle was also able to provide good advice on the best supplier for my particular needs (and budget). I collected the van in November 2013, too late to use before winter arrived. But from March onwards it will be a frequent visitor to the Scottish Islands. It looks amazing and has been restored without compromise to its original showroom condition. A job well done - John

Dorris Restoration,

seLowered, welded, repaired and painted. Fantastic job done by the very nice people at Border Restoration. We still look in amazement at the photos of the work done on Bluebell and it was great we could pop up and see her and discuss all stages of her restoration. Well worth the wait! Well recommended. Steve & Julie

Steve & Julie,

Thankyou to Border Restoration for helping with the running repairs needed to our van 'Silas'. Overall Silas is a solid van, but the test of time meant that we had a few trouble spots on the bottom of the doors and the front steps. Marc gave us an honest opinion about the problems and proposed taking away the bad and welding in new! A propoer job! and not just a grind, fill and spray! The result was fantastic! All belishes removed and the rot stopped and a really friendly welocme too! 1st class job and I would recommend Border Restoration to anyone with the same kind of issues or needing a full restoration! Paul Wilkinson

Paul Wilkinson,

After making the big decision to spend hard earned money on a van, then mot's and repairs ect the time came to decide whether to get rid or fix it. But who is going to bring her back to life?? Seeing your work at shows confirmed that you were the right people for us and weren't too far from home. You were honest and upfront from the start and made us believe that we could have a van to be proud of even when it seemed impossible. To Marc the perfectionist and Michelle the best cake maker in the world [ so good they even cure hangovers!!] nothing is too much trouble for you both and it's easy to see why you are booked up for years to come. Thanks also for letting us come over on the weekends to get Gretel back together we really enjoyed it and just when you thought you were getting rid of us were going to back with the Bug!!!!! Chris and Liz

Chris and Liz,

After doing what every Campervan fanatic tells you not to do and buying a late T2 Bay off EBay, it was clear we had bitten off more than we could chew. So when Border Restoration's business card fell out of a pile of Campervan magazines and brochures from the Oswestry Show we knew it had to be a sign! I can honestly say we have never looked back since sending that first email to Border. It was so reassuring to get a reply tat same evening. Suddenly the pangs of anxiety began to subside and se started to get excited about Belle's restoration... Marc and Michelle have done a fantastic job! We can honestly say we trust Marc 100% with our beloved van. From our first visit to Border every stage of Belle's restoration was explained frankly and honestly along with regular updates on cost (a must if you have a limited amount of cash to throw at a project). Marc and Michelle encouraged us to make regular visits and we were always welcomed with a brew, a piece of cake and a wag of the tail from Fat Dog. We really can't recommend Border enough. Belle looks like a different van now and Marc continues to be a source of knowledge and expertise which we're regularly able to call upon. We can't wait to start living the dream and embark on our Campervan adventures this summer! Check out the photos of Belle - she really does look the Belle of the ball! Sadie & Ross xx

Sadie & Ross – T2 Belle,

It's been great meeting Marc and Michelle who are total VW enthusiasts and really friendly and welcoming. My camper van was very well looked after and I got lots of work in progress info complete with photos and e-mails so I always knew what was happening. The work they did was of a high standard and my van's been running a treat since they sorted it out. I'd recommend giving them a call - they have a lovely combination of being laid back but very professional which is reassuring. Your van gets looked after by Marc who has lots of VW experience and is happy to show you around the workshops, give you lots of detail about restoration, where to get parts and anything you need to know. It's different from the usual garage experience - you get tea and a chance to chat and I really liked my camper being fixed by such nice people.

Sharon Lewis – T2 Campmobile,

We were looking for a company to help us source and rebuild a camper. Marc & Michelle were so much more than that - from advising us when problems came up - fortunately not too often! - keeping us updated throughout with progress, double checking things with us and providing more cake than was probably good for us! No question was too stupid, we always knew where our money was going, and we have a van that turns heads wherever he goes! The guys that fitted his interior and tune his engine love working on such a great van, commenting on the quality of work that's gone into him and how fab he looks - we totally agree and look forward to working with them again in the future - we cannot recommend the team at Borders highly enough.

Laura Pask,

What a cracking place to take your van. The guys were fantastic. Working in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere they looked after both me and my van. Every part of the restoration was explained clearly and accompanied with a cup of tea and some amazing cake. Thanks to the guys and girls I can enjoy the surf this summer and kick back in my van when I’m done. Any work you may need on your precious VW I would strongly advise giving the team a call. Be sure to let them know when you popping round so they have some chocolate fruit and nut cake ready. Thanks again guys be in soon for a chat!
